What Do You Need To Make Instant Pot Popcorn?

Instant Pot Popcorn Recipe

  1. Set your pot on saute and immediately place the oil inside your instant pot.
  2. Allow the oil to heat up for about 2 minutes, or until your instant pot displays the word “hot” before placing your popcorn kernels in the pot.
  3. Stir for about 1 minute before putting a lid on the top you can see through.
  4. In about 2-3 minutes of heating while covered, you will start to hear the popcorn kernels popping.
  5. Let it pop for about 5 minutes or until most of the kernels have popped.

Why won’t my popcorn pop in Instant Pot?

This is because you might be using stale popcorn kernels.

The hulls of old kernels are fragile, and they will not expand in the pressure cooker. To ensure that your popcorn pops, use fresh kernels for this recipe. Keep the Instant Pot at the perfect temperature during the popping procedure.

Do you need cooking oil for popcorn?

This recipe does require the use of cooking oil. However, the amount of oil required depends on your own inclination. If you want a light coating, use a few teaspoons; if you want a thick layer of taste, use more.

For a special treat, use coconut oil for vegetable oil in sweet dishes.

How long should you cook popcorn in an Instant Pot?

The cooking time is determined by how crisp you want your popcorn. Less cooking time will result in a light and fluffy texture.

Wait two minutes after the popping has ceased before removing it from the pressure cooker for a typical crunchy flavour. If you like your popcorn smokey, pop it for another 30 seconds or so after the popping cycle is over.

How long can you store cooked popcorn in an Instant Pot?

This recipe is best served immediately after preparation, but if you have any leftovers, keep them in an airtight container.

Cooked popcorn can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days. If possible, use it within a day or two, but you can keep it at room temperature for one night if needed.

Can you flavor popcorn before popping?

Yes, flavoring your popcorn before popping it is possible. When cooking sweet treats, this is a great option.

Add 2 tablespoons of sugar to each cup of kernels, along with the cooking oil. If you want to make it more luxurious, smear it with melted butter or top it with parmesan cheese.

After your popcorn has popped, you can experiment with adding other sweet or savory components. Cinnamon, chile powder, lemon zest, and curry powder are just a few examples. When making this dish, remember to use cooking oil for the best results!

How do you cook a large batch of popcorn in the Instant Pot?

An oven bag is the finest technique to pop a large number of kernels in a single batch. This keeps kernels from flying out of the pressure cooker and burning.

To do so, use a large oven bag to line your Instant Pot and double the recipe. Before closing the bag, seal it and set it inside your Instant Pot. Wait for the pressure cooker to pop after turning it on.

Allow a few minutes for the kernels to stop popping before opening your Instant Pot. As the kernels cook, the bag will absorb the heat, making it easier to handle when removing them altogether.

Popcorn is a delightful and healthy snack that individuals of all ages may enjoy. It’s a terrific way to get your fiber while also being a cheap snack. Instant Pot Popcorn can be made in minutes and is a pleasant activity to do with family or friends. Make sure to try this tasty and healthy popcorn recipe right away.

How To Make Popcorn In An Instant Pot

Yield: 4 cups
Prep Time: 1 minute
Cook Time: 12 minutes
Total Time: 13 minutes

Skip the stove and use your instant pot to make a quick bowl of popcorn in minutes! It's quicker, easier, and less messy than using a pot. Every time, you get delicious and perfect popcorn.

Ingredients

  • ½ Cup Popcorn Kernels
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil

Instructions

Notes

  • You’ll want to be able to see your popcorn kernels to ensure they’re not burning after a couple minutes of popping. If you don’t have a glass lid, you’ll want to check every once in a while, under the lid.
  • If your popcorn kernels are older, they may not seem stale to you, but older kernels will not pop well, if at all, in the instant pot. Use fresh kernels.
  • I used avocado oil, which resulted in some luscious popcorn. However, you can use any oil you have on hand.
  • To get a more even pop, after every minute of popping, stir the popcorn or shake your instant pot to move around the popcorn. Unpopped kernels like to sometimes rest on already popped popcorn, which results in them not getting enough heat to pop. Moving the popcorn around helps these unpopped kernels get better heat.
  • If you want buttery popcorn, you can add 2 tablespoons of butter with the oil. Once it’s melted, you can add your popcorn kernels.
