What Do I Need To Make Texas Meatloaf At Home?

How Do I Make Homemade Texas Meatloaf?

  • Preheat your oven to 350º
  • Mix the first 6 spices together and set aside.
  • Combine beef, almond flour, bell pepper, onion, egg, and garlic in a bowl.
  • Top off with your spice mixture.
  • Mix lightly with your hands until loosely combined.
  • Dump your meat mixture into a loaf pan and place in the oven for 1 hour or until your meat is no longer pink inside.
  • When finished pull meatloaf from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes then add the ketchup to the top and serve.

How Can I Make My Meatloaf More Tender?

Use meat that is heavy in fat.  The meatloaf becomes dryer and grainier as the meat becomes leaner. Always use a higher-fat cut, at least 15%, for an all-beef meatloaf. To make a moist, tender meatloaf when using leaner beef or turkey, you could think about adding some ground pork and/or veal.

  1. As I was reading this my brain came up with two questions: 1) would this work in a slow cooker??? 2) what if we add a packet of taco seasoning instead of all the spices? Am I being too risky?

    1. You can definitely use a taco packet instead of the spices and if you use a slow cooker, use these instructions- Slow cook for 5-6 hours until the meatloaf has reduced in size.
