Sweet potatoes can be cooked in a variety of ways, but roasting or steaming them until they are fork-tender is the best method for making a casserole. This will ensure that they retain their shape and don’t turn to mush when mixed with the other ingredients. They can easily be made quickly using an instant pot.

What Type Of Sweet Potato Should I Use For A Casserole?

While you can use any type of sweet potato for this dish we used canned yams for convenience and time. Jewel or garnet sweet potatoes are the most commonly used. They have a deep orange flesh that is naturally sweet and creamy, making them ideal for a casserole. However, you can also use white sweet potatoes or any firm varieties of sweet potatoes, if you prefer.
