Ingredients For Sweet Potato Fries with Aioli Dip:

Aioli Dip Ingredients:

How to Make the Perfect Baked Sweet Potato Fries

To start, peel three medium sweet potatoes and cut them into French fry-sized pieces. Toss them with olive oil, cornstarch, and a blend of flavorful seasonings, including smoked paprika, chili powder, chipotle powder, garlic, oregano, black pepper, and sea salt. Bake them at 375°F for 15 minutes on each side, flipping halfway through to ensure even cooking.

Golden, flavorful, and slightly crispy on the outside while soft on the inside—these fries are perfection.

The accompanying aioli dip is just as effortless. Simply soak raw cashews for 24 hours and blend them with water, white vinegar, garlic, and sea salt. The result is a velvety, tangy dip that pairs beautifully with the fries.

Easy Snack Ideas:

How to Store Sweet Potato Fries for Later

If you find yourself with extra fries (hard to imagine, we know!), proper storage is the key to keeping them fresh. Place leftover fries in an airtight container, and for best results, line the bottom of the container with a paper towel to absorb any excess moisture. This will help prevent the fries from becoming soggy. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

When reheating, skip the microwave—it’ll make the fries too soft. Instead, spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and reheat in the oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to restore their crispness.

That said, keep in mind that the fries are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, so they hold their signature texture.

At Room Temperature

If the fries are left out at room temperature, they should be eaten within 2 hours to maintain their quality and safety. Always refrigerate them promptly to avoid unnecessary waste.

Creative Variations for Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Want to switch things up? Here are a few flavor variations to try with your sweet potato fries:

  • Smoky-Sweet Combo: Add cumin, paprika, and a touch of cinnamon for a smoky yet slightly sweet flavor.
  • Spicy Kick: Mix cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and a squeeze of lime juice for a spice-lovers’ dream.
  • Herbaceous Twist: Sprinkle fresh rosemary, thyme, and a little parmesan cheese over the fries before baking for a savory, herby flavor.

These variations ensure that you’ll never get bored of baked sweet potato fries!

More Ideas for Dipping Sauces

While the classic cashew-based aioli dip is delicious on its own, there are many other dips to experiment with:

  • Maple Mustard Dip: A sweet and tangy blend of Dijon mustard, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of salt.
  • Sriracha Mayo: Mix mayonnaise with Sriracha and optional lime juice for a creamy, spicy kick.
  • Guacamole: Pair your fries with creamy avocado goodness.
  • Yogurt and Herb Dip: Greek yogurt combined with dill, parsley, chives, and lemon juice for a refreshing alternative.
  • Vegan Cheese Dip: A rich, dairy-free option made with cashews, nutritional yeast, and garlic.

The possibilities are as endless as they are mouthwatering!

Tips and Tricks for Making the Best Baked Fries and Dip

For perfectly baked sweet potato fries and that dreamy cashew aioli, keep these tips in mind:

  • For Crispier Fries: Soak the cut sweet potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes before seasoning. This removes excess starch, helping the fries crisp up in the oven.
  • Spread Out the Fries: Ensure the fries are arranged in a single layer on the baking sheet. Overcrowding will cause them to steam rather than bake.
  • Flip for Even Cooking: Turn the fries halfway through the baking time to achieve even browning and caramelization.
  • Watch Closely: Keep an eye on the fries, particularly towards the end of the baking time, as sugars in the sweet potatoes can cause them to burn quickly.
  • For Silky-Smooth Dip: Always soak the cashews for the full 24 hours to ensure a creamy result. A high-speed blender helps achieve the perfect texture.

These simple tricks will elevate the recipe to restaurant-quality results every time.
